Housesitting in Blajan / Azub and Honza – 25th July to 8th August 2016

Monday 25th July – Blajan It’s a pretty lazy day for us today and Mike and Sandy run through what’s required whilst they’re away. Tuesday 26th to Sunday 31st July Tuesday we pick up Jac from Toulouse airport. OMG she’s looking fab – her health and fitness regime has continued and she’s lost more weight, completed her first 5km run and has bought a new wardrobe. Fantastic. We’ve also picked up a bed from Toulouse for B&H who kindly…

Toulouse and Rivel workaway – 1st to 11th Jan 2016

Toulouse and Rivel workaway – 1st to 11th Jan 2016

Friday 1st January Today we head into town for geocaching and sightseeing. Unfortunately we struggle to find quite a few of the caches and blame our failure on the French to English translation – clearly someone/thing has to take the blame. Even looking in the Japanese garden next to Zen doesn’t bring us any luck. Failed to find 4 out 7 but at least it takes us to parts of the city we would otherwise have not visited. Back…

11 Dec to New Year’s eve. Workaway, skiing and housesitting!!

11 Dec to New Year’s eve. Workaway, skiing and housesitting!!

Friday 11th December Today is French lesson day so we start early so we can squeeze in a dog walk before Odile arrives. Odile arrives and John shortly after. Sandy and Mike are off for a weekend break in Mirepoix. So whilst Daz has his lesson, I clean and tidy the tool shed next to our gite. Then I have my lesson and Daz tidies the storage tent in the garden. Everything is spic and span. After lunch we go…

Boulogne sur Gesse Workaway – 25Nov to 10 December 2015

Boulogne sur Gesse Workaway – 25Nov to 10 December 2015

Wednesday 25th November It’s been raining all night and it’s looking like it’s going to be a pretty miserable day. We wander over to the house but without any real enthusiasm for the day ahead. There’s a lull in the heavy downpour and we take full advantage and take Rushka, Taiga and Kael for a walk. Kael is fast becoming Daz’s favourite – he does seem the most affectionate. After the walk we manage to get one shrub pruned before…

Workaway @ Boulogne sur Gesse – 12 Nov to 24 Nov 2015

Workaway @ Boulogne sur Gesse – 12 Nov to 24 Nov 2015

Thursday 12th November A foggy start to the day and I think there’s a very fine drizzle but Daz says it’s just the moisture in the mist. But since when has a bit of moistness been enough to deter us – never says Daz. So we start work clearing an area for the compost bin Daz is going to make. First we move a couple of old log piles and then we do some weeding. When Sandy comes out…

Bordeaux to Boulogne sur Gesse – 6 Nov to 11 Nov

Bordeaux to Boulogne sur Gesse – 6 Nov to 11 Nov

Friday 6th November – Bordeaux more sightseeing A really slow start this morning. We’re not out the door until gone 11am but in our defence we heard the rain earlier and we’ve been waiting for the skies to clear. We cycle to the food market, which we missed yesterday because it closes in the afternoon. After the early rain it’s turned into another beautiful day and it’s so lovely to be cycling the streets of Bordeaux; it has so many…

Rivel workaway – 12th to 24th January 2016

Rivel workaway – 12th to 24th January 2016

Tuesday 12th January Today it’s pretty much all painting for me. More coats of paint on the shutters and then primer on the shutters Daz and Martin have prepared over the last couple of days. Meanwhile Daz continues work bringing down the level where the swimming pool used to stand. Poor sod – he’s definitely got the harder job; 5 hours of digging!   Wednesday 13th January A fabulous day off today, we all go to Ax les Thermes skiing…
